Hidden Desires
It all boiled down to this point in time, to this moment, this feeling, this sense of yearning that had built up inside of her for so very long, “Yes, yes,” Eve breathed unable to suppress the moans building inside of her as she tilted her head on the arm of the leather sofa.  Feeling his touch was taking her to places she’d never been to before as she bit on her lip trying to suppress the pleading threatening to break through the surface as he’d managed to reach another hot spot in her.  Unable to hold back any longer she found herself lost in a low, primal moan as his hands moved over her robbing her of any and all rational thought, “oh god yes,” she finally cried out unable to keep herself under control as she felt herself turn over completely.

“No,” Chris answered abruptly as he released her and her eyes snapped open.

“What?” she gasped in astonishment watching him pull himself up from on the sofa, “what do you mean no?”

“Like I said Eve,” Chris stated simply before going over to the bar and pouring himself a drink as this had been far too much for him, “no.  Do you need me to spell it out for you?”

“So that’s it,” she questioned finding herself a bit on edge as she pulled herself up from the comfort the cushions had provided her.

“That’s it,” he replied loosening his tie as he downed his drink.

“But why?  It was going so good?” Eve pouted reaching for the pillow beside her as she dug her nails into it craving his touch yet again, “I thought you said...”

“I know what I said Eve,” Chris frowned turning to face her again, “but I think that an hour is a bit much, even by your standards.”

“You said you could go all night,” Eve reminded him as her eyes took him in once more.

“And you said you wouldn’t make such a big deal out of this,” Chris replied turning his attention back to the glass before him on the bar, “you’d swore that you were going take it easy after last time, that you hadn’t even enjoyed it when I gave it to you.”

“I lied,” Eve shrugged it off as she threw the pillow into the back of the sofa, “I want, no I need you to get back here and finish what you started with me.”

“I would, but you know,” Chris flashed her a devilish grin, “I can’t bring myself to go to that extreme as you can clearly see, I have a date.”

“A date?” she repeated in astonishment, “wait a second.  You’re going to leave me high and dry for a date?  Since when?”

“Since now Eve,” Chris answered simply, “I have to meet her in less than an hour and you’ve proven to be far more of a distraction than I’d hoped for.”

“But I thought that.....” she stammered a bit.

“Eve, you didn’t think I’d dish out all my talents for you, did you?” Chris questioned in amusement as he popped open a few buttons on his shirt, “You’ll survive.  Besides it’s nothing that a long hot shower won’t remedy.”

“That’s not fair,” Eve protested watching him circle the couch, “you promised me a quiet night here.”

“Well Lambert,” Chris leaned in closer to her as their eyes connected, “I lied.”

“Jerk,” Eve replied reaching for the pillow once more and swatting him in the face with it as her frown expanded.

“Oh come on Eve,” Chris defended, “it’s not like you couldn’t go out and get someone to give you a rubdown right now if you wanted to.”

“But yours are the best,” she groaned.

“Yes,” he smiled proudly, “they are, aren’t they?  Well, it’s your loss for waiting this long to utilize my talents.”

“Chris,” Eve protested again, “that’s so not fair.”

“Don’t you know by now Lambert that I don’t play fair,” he smiled as he moved into the hallway.  Seconds later her returned popping his head out back at her through the doorway, “of course now that I think about it if you’d like to hop in the shower with me while I get ready, we could continue with the back massage I was giving you and anything else that might come up.”

“Oh please,” Eve groaned as she tossed the pillow she’d been holding at him again, “I’d rather suffer.”

“Your loss,” Chris shrugged watching her for a long moment as she sank back into the sofa again.  He couldn’t help but chuckle at her.

“Darn,” Eve groaned as she threw her arms back over her shoulders trying to work out the kink in her neck.

“You don’t know what you’re missing,” he tried coaxing her again as she let out another unimpressed groan and he chuckled to himself before walking down the hallway thinking about her response as a twisted smile formed over his features, “but you will soon Lambert,” he thought to himself as he realized Eve was going to discover time and time again just what she was missing out on and in the worst possible way.

Eve opened her eyes hearing it again as she groaned throwing her pillow over her head, just begging and pleading with whomever would listen to her just to make it stop.  It was the third time this week and it was a bit much as she heard the sounds coming from between the walls.  Damn the walls for being so thin and damn Chris for picking up women who were so damned loud.  This was the third time this week already and she’d been hoping he’d have a slow night after the day they’d had at the hospital, but here she was in her room listening to the sounds of Chris Ramsey’s latest playmate shouting out to the heavens and beyond as Chris was obviously showing her the ride of her life.  Eve groaned at the thought.  It wasn’t so much she was bothered by the thought of Chris having sex with someone in the next room.  It was more so that his latest thrill for the night didn’t come along with the mute button.  Rolling over in her bed, Eve realized that the screams had died down a bit and with a breath of relief, she pulled her pillow off of her head just listening for a moment or two, waiting to see if this was in fact her break.

“At last,” she muttered under her breath as she eased herself back into the pillow, but as if there was some curse lingering over her, some hex keeping her from having just one night of undisturbed sleep, the sounds rose again from the paper thin walls.  Just when she’d thought that she would finally be able to get some peace and quiet, it reached out to her.

“Oh god Chris,” the latest one cried out as if she’d just been wound up yet again and Eve let out a groan.

“As if the first half hour of this wasn’t bad enough Ramsey,” Eve complained as she began flipping through the channels on television going from infomercial to infomercial as if being awake at three in the morning wasn’t bad enough.  Trying to absorb herself in the latest weight loss advertisement Eve noticed the sounds had tapered off a bit from the other room and she reached out to her remote again deciding to finally call it a night as her room was finally silent.

Grateful for this interruption during love fest, Eve snuggled in underneath her blankets finally thinking about the dreamland she’d missed out on for days on end here thanks to Chris and his newfound libido since she’d moved back into the apartment.  Granted, he’d always teased her about having women in before, but it was never this bad.  She’d never actually heard anyone with him, but now, well now it was like he couldn’t stop himself as he’d found some reason to keep going and going as Eve realized she’d really need to look into a place on her own.  Moving back had seemed like a good idea at the time, but now after dealing with this excruciating torture each night, she realized that perhaps her own place was the best option, at least if she’d ever intended upon having a full night of rest again.  Closing her eyes and feeling a smile curl upon her lips, she found herself slipping into that dreamland that had almost evaded her yet again.  It was then and only then that it hit her.

“Yes......Chris......oh god yes.....more........more.......oh Chris......” the voice seemed to squeal with delight as Eve groaned realizing that she must be in her own private hell as she pulled her pillow over her head beginning her prayers all over again.

Morning arrived far too early for Eve as her alarm clock invaded her ears.  Slamming her hand over the snooze button, she just pleaded with herself for five more minutes as her mind recounted the turn of events over and over again from the previous evening.  She knew that somehow she should’ve just had pizza delivered instead of going out for dinner on her own like that.  She should’ve napped while Chris was gone and worried about food later at oh say two thirty when Chris and Lady X....or rather Lady XXX were going strong.  She groaned again hearing the alarm sound off again as she rolled over in her bed rubbing her tired eyes.

“This had grown to be far too much,” she thought to herself finding herself completely exhausted as she stepped out into the living room finding Courtney sitting there at the table eating a bagel.  Eve frowned slightly as she pieced it together.  Courtney Kanelos, her nose wrinkled a bit and here she thought Chris had taste.  Pretending not to have been disturbed by Courtney’s obnoxious wails of passion the previous evening Eve walked over to pour herself a mug of coffee, “good morning Courtney.”

“Good morning Eve,” Courtney responded simply as Chris emerged from his bedroom dressed and ready for work.

Chris cast his eyes over in Eve’s direction and he shook his head, “Tsk, tsk, looks like you’re running behind yet again.”

“Well if someone wouldn’t...” she started looking to Courtney before raising her hand in the air, “never mind.  I don’t want to get into it now.  It‘s too damn early,” Eve finished before returning to her room again.

Courtney looked over to Chris, “What’s her problem?”

“Perhaps she had a rough night,” Chris shrugged as he reached for his keys, “ready to go?”

“Lead the way,” Courtney responded getting up from her seat as they left the apartment together.

Hours later Eve found herself barely able to keep her eyes open as she snuck into the on call room.  “Just a few minutes,” she promised herself as she made her way over to the couch deciding to pass up the bunk beds as her exhaustion caused her to collapse on the cushions.  Finding herself ready to just lose herself in hours of sleep to make up for what she’d been lacking, she found herself interrupted by something she hadn’t expected.

“Chris,” a voice laughed lightly as Eve heard the stifled sounds from inside Chris’ office.  She turned her eyes to the closed door as she sat up for a moment watching it and wondering what was going on now as the laughter continued, “this is crazy you know.  I mean someone could come in here at any time and find us.”

“Isn’t the thrill part of the appeal in this scenario,” Eve heard Chris say to the woman he was obviously with in his office as she continued to listen with obvious interest.

“You’re such a bad boy,” the woman laughed heartily as there was a bit of a banging sound against the door to Chris’s office and Eve’s eyes widened with surprise as she remained frozen on the couch.

“You love it,” Eve heard Chris respond before there were some muffled sounds followed by some banging noises and Eve threw herself back on the couch pulling the pillow over her head as she let out an agonizing groan.

“Why me?” Eve questioned doing her best to block out the sounds of Chris and his latest adventure as exhaustion finally overtook her and she drifted off to sleep.

“Eve, Eve wake up,” a voice called out to her as Eve finally jumped out of her nap and saw Gabriella standing over her with Chris beside her.  Eve frowned, “Gabriella, where am I?”

“The on call room,” Gabriella explained looking over to Chris, “are you sure she’s okay?”

“She seemed fine a minute ago,” Chris shrugged taking a seat beside Eve, “hey, are you okay?”

“Fine,” Eve sat upright rubbing her temples for a moment as she looked between Chris and Gabriella, “what are you two up to?”

“Chris and I were just going over a few charts in his office a little while ago,” Gabriella frowned as she looked between Chris and Eve, “Eve, are you sure you’re feeling okay?  I mean you don’t look like you’re doing so well.  Maybe you should rest up.”

“No, I’m fine,” Eve answered with a slight yawn, “really.”

“You sure?” Chris questioned watching her closely, “because you know if you need time to yourself...”

“I’m fine really,” Eve blurted out as she looked to Gabriella, “where’s Joe?”

“He’s off today,” Gabriella explained lightly before looking back to Chris, “did you want to go finish what we’d started back in there before?”

“Perhaps that would be a wise idea,” Chris nodded as he turned his eyes to Eve, “Lambert, you know if you’re not busy you’re more than welcome to join us.”

“No,” Eve blurted out perhaps too quickly as she looked between them, “no, nope I think I’m going to be just fine right where I’m at.  In fact,” she pulled herself up from the couch, “I have some work to do, so if you’ll excuse me...”

“Of course,” Chris nodded watching her head towards the door.

“I hope you feel better Eve,” Gabriella called out to her before turning her eyes to Chris again, “She didn’t look well.”

“No,” Chris frowned, “she didn’t at all, did she?  Maybe I‘ll talk to her later and see what‘s going on.”

“That’s probably a good idea,” Gabriella nodded in response before looking to his office, “ready to go finish what we started before?”

“You bet,” Chris offered with a smile before leading Gabriella back to his office and closing the door behind them.

Two thirty in the morning, Eve thought to herself as she heard another sound of passion slip through the walls as they’d normally done over the past two weeks.  First it had been Livvie, then a few of the nurses at the hospital, Alison, Courtney, Gabriella in his office, which still had her in shock given the nature of Gabriella’s solid relationship with Joe and now this latest vocal wonder that Eve would love to string up by those obtrusive vocal cords and send off into next week with one swift kick of her...she stopped herself as yet another prayer to the heavens was sent out from the woman Chris was with at the moment.

The sounds had continued like this for at least a half an hour before it finally died down and Eve had decided she’s had enough.  Determined, she crawled out of bed and slipped into her robe ready to duke it out with Chris once and for all if she had to as his sex life was going to be the death of her at this rate.  That much she was certain of.  Feeling her anger mount, she banged on his bedroom door deciding to give way to any amount of civility she had left in her as she continued her assault on the door.

Finally after a few minutes of pounding, Chris opened the door coming face to face with Eve, “What?” He questioned with obvious irritancy as he looked at her.

“Could you tone it down in there?” she asked as her eyes fell over his chest down to the drawstring on his jogging pants.  He’d had that look about him, that frazzled, half dressed, just had one of the greatest sexual experiences of his life look and Eve found herself jealous....no annoyed, annoyed was rather the word as she tried to peek over his shoulder into his bedroom.

Sensing Eve’s curiosity Chris stepped out into the hallway closing the door behind him before she could get a look inside.  He frowned as he looked to her, “Now what is your problem?”

“Chris, I’m trying to sleep,” Eve informed him sharply, “so could you please keep it down in there?”

“Eve, I’m not doing anything,” Chris replied with a frown, “really if you’re having trouble sleeping...”

“You know very well what you’re doing and if you want to do that, fine it’s your problem, but I’m not going to put up with it when I’m trying to get some rest,” she snapped at him.

“Are you finished Lambert?” Chris questioned folding his arms in front of his chest.

“For now I am,” Eve replied spinning on her heel as she turned towards her room and slamming the door behind her as she stepped inside.  Chris chuckled in mild amusement before returning to his own room ready to continue with the adventure he’d started for the evening.

Settling in beneath her blankets Eve listened for a moment half expecting to hear the same obtrusive sounds she’d been cursed with before, but now there was a silent.  The air was calm and quiet for a change and as the four a.m. mark slipped in on her clock, she finally drifted off to sleep grateful for the silence.

Groaning, Eve rolled over in bed dreading the start of her daily ritual of wishing she could spend the day in bed as her alarm went off for the third time this morning.  She complained to herself for a moment or so before finally throwing back the blanket and ripping her robe from the bed post as she walked to the door ready to fix herself a cup of coffee, but as she stood at the threshold, she heard something other than the usual silence that filled the mornings in the Ramsey household.  She heard laughter and smelled bacon.  So Chris was cooking for his latest fling, she thought to herself, well maybe it was time to put a stop to this once and for all.  Marching out into the kitchen Eve tied her robe around her tightly before preparing herself for battle, but as she stood in the kitchen doorway, her chin just about dropped.

“Karen,” Eve gasped seeing Chris sitting close beside Karen at the kitchen table.  Unable to mask her shock Eve gasped again, “What are you doing here?”

“Chris and I had a few things to go over,” Karen began noting the look of surprise on Eve’s features, “did we wake you?”

“Well...” Eve shook her head in disbelief as she found herself at a loss.

“Lambert doesn’t mind the noise,” Chris smiled in Eve’s direction, “she’s a very sound sleeper.”

“I....I...” Eve turned to Karen with a puzzled expression, “it’s just that.  Why on earth would you end up here?”

“Chris didn’t think you’d mind.  We didn‘t really want to get wrapped up in this at the hospital with all the rumors that fly around, so we thought we‘d just bring it here and keep it more of a private matter,” Karen shrugged as she looked over to Chris momentarily, “you know actually it’s getting kind of late here, so I’d better get going.”

“Really?” Chris frowned, “That’s too bad.  I was just about to put some breakfast on.”

“Really,” Karen nodded as she stood from her seat, “I have to check on a few things down in the lab this morning and I’d better get a move on it before the Chief Resident gets on my case.”

“I think you’re excused in this instance,” Chris smiled at her as he followed her over to the door, “Oh Karen,” he reached over the couch, “don’t forget your purse.”

“Of course I wouldn‘t want to do that like last time,” Karen smiled accepting it before looking over his shoulder to Eve, “I’ll see you later Eve.”

“Yeah, later,” Eve muttered as she plopped down in one of the chairs at the kitchen table trying to take in what she’d just witnessed.  There was no way that Karen would’ve been the one with Chris last night.  While Eve had found it hard to believe that the others had been with Chris, Karen just was a shock.  Karen hated Chris, but yet there she was sitting at the table having breakfast with Chris.  None of this made sense, she thought to herself as she buried her hands in her head and groaned.

“Rough morning already?” Chris questioned lightly as he returned to the stove once more to tend to his breakfast.

Eve let out a sarcastic laugh as she looked over to him, “I’m surprised you can still stand.”

“Excuse me?” He questioned looking over his shoulder at her.

“Don’t play innocent with me Ramsey,” Eve frowned, “what did you have to do to get Karen over here?  Drug her?”

“Now why would I go and do something like that?” He asked raising a brow as he looked over at her.

“That’s something I’d be very interested in hearing about,” Eve informed him with a penetrating stare.

“Jealous?”

“Hardly,” she rolled her eyes, “I just wondered what you did to Karen to even get her to consider you.”

“I didn’t do anything to Karen,” Chris replied pouring a glass of juice before handing it over to Eve, “she came over on her own free will.”

“I seriously doubt that,” Eve muttered accepting the glass and taking a sip.

“Why is it so hard for you to comprehend that someone might be interested in me as a person, Eve?” Chris frowned.

“Because I know you Ramsey,” Eve blurted out as she leaned back in her chair a bit and turned her eyes to watch him over by the stove.

“No you don’t,” he shook his head, “you only think you know me.”

“Oh come on Chris,” Eve set the glass down, “it’s not hard to figure you out there.  Let’s see, you don’t do anything unless of course there’s something in it for you, and you’re a mean SOB most of the time.”

“Gee Eve, spoken like a true friend there,” Chris rolled his eyes at her as he glanced at her briefly, “you really don’t have the first clue about what I am.”

“You’re a manipulator plain and simple,” she said pulling herself up from the chair she was in as she noted him poking at the bacon he‘d been cooking, “you trick people into feeling one way so that they’ll be more susceptible to your manipulations.”

“Remind me to think of that the next time boyfriend of the month dumps you on your butt again Eve,” Chris retorted harshly as he watched her walk over to him.  Turning his attention away from the bacon he looked to her as he set down the utensil he‘d been using up until that point.  Flicking a string from his sleeve before turning his eyes to her he questioned, “What’s this really about Eve?”

“It’s about you and your after hours rendezvous,” Eve frowned watching as he turned his attention back to his cufflinks adjusting them as she talked to him, “I mean really Chris every night is a bit much.”

“Wait a second, let me get this straight.  You’re upset with me because I choose to bring someone home into my apartment and spend the night with them,” Chris gave her a curious look, “Gee Lambert if that doesn’t sound like jealousy right there, nothing does.”

“Don’t flatter yourself Ramsey,” she rolled her eyes as she stepped forward again, “I’m just asking you to tone it down because I’d like to be able to get to sleep for just one night without having to listen to a vocal rundown about your spirituality there in bringing women closer to God.  I’d like to have the knowledge that for just one evening I could go to bed feeling that I won’t have to be wakened up by the sounds of some female in heat in your bedroom.”

“So you’re saying hearing me with someone else bothers you?” He questioned watching her expression as a slight smile crossed over his features.

“Yes,” she noticed the look in his eyes as she shook her head, “not like that.”

“Then how?” he asked stepping forward.

“Chris, I don’t care if you screw the entire female population, but could you at least have the decency to keep the volume level down to a two?” Eve begged as the sounds of the sizzling bacon filled the room.

“A two,” Chris repeated watching her eyes as he stepped in closer to her still, “tell me something Eve,” he boldly reached out to her taking a hold of the tie around her robe as he pulled her body to his crushing her to him.  Noting the expression on her face, he bend his head down to whisper in her ear as he kept her close, “what really bothers you Eve?  The noise factor or the fact that you get to hear all that you’re missing out on?  That you get to experience second hand what could’ve been the best night of your life a long time ago?” he pressed his lips closer to her neck.

“Don’t flatter yourself Chris,” Eve answered feeling a chill rush through her in response to his warm breath upon her skin before pressing her palm into the center of his chest before shoving him backwards.  However, his hold on her robe tie was still strong as ever as he pulled her with him and she fell into his strong arms.

Meeting her dark chocolate eyes with a sly grin, Chris swiftly hooked one arm around her waist, “Why don’t you tell me what this is really about Eve?”

“This is about us being too close for comfort,” Eve answered sharply bringing her arm around to smack him as she extended her palm.

As if sensing her intentions, Chris released his hold on her waist as his hand captured hers mid-air and he brought her arm back with his down to her body again, “Try again Eve,” he instructed.

“I’d just like some peace and quiet around here,” Eve blurted out trying to wrench her arm from behind her back as she looked into his eyes, “is that too much to ask for.”

“Is that really what you want Eve?” Chris questioned again as his gaze shifted to her full pouting lips.  She was angry, he’d give her that, but at the same time she was quite intoxicating.  Unable to resist the urge, he leaned in closer to her feeling their breath intermingle as he noted her uneven breathing.

“Yes,” she spoke hoarsely as she found herself drawn to his lips.  Her pulse was racing, her breath caught in her throat and as she felt him so close to her she thought of the sounds she‘d heard night after night coming from his room.  Could Chris have been as good as his praises?  Had she been wasting her time with all the wrong men when the one who could blow her mind was right here holding her in his arms?  Was Chris really someone she wanted like that?  Time and time she‘d convinced herself that he wasn‘t, but now that he was holding her like this, looking into her with those eyes, those deep penetrating eyes, those lips, those wicked, luscious lips of his.  She wondered what it would be like to kiss those lips, how it would feel to have them over hers exploring the depths that they‘d never taken the time to venture into together...no, she wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction

“You’re sure?” his voice taunted in it’s own bewitching way as he kept his lips a mere breath away from hers.  His eyes held her in such a way Eve found herself fighting to steady her pounding heart fearing that he might see through her and this feeling she’d suddenly found herself swept up in.

“That’s what I really want Chris,” Eve answered firmly as she met his hungry eyes.  Feeling a chill rush through her she tugged her arm once more and he abruptly released her.

“Fine,” Chris shrugged turning his attention back to the cooking bacon.

“That’s it?” she asked skeptically as she rubbed her aching wrist though as she watched him she realized there was another kind of ache that had filled her, one she hadn‘t had before now and she found herself missing his touch.  The coolness of the kitchen air on her skin had now replaced the warmth of his hand on her and she found herself yearning to have that contact again despite her anger with him.

“You tell me,” Chris gave her a brief, dismissive look as he noticed something behind her eyes.

“Just so long as we understand one another,” Eve decided as she straightened out her robe and tried to banish the thoughts racing through her mind.  She cleared her throat as she knotted the tie on her robe once more.

“We understand each other perfectly,” Chris nodded not bothering to look back at her as he continued with his cooking as she walked towards the hallway.  “Oh Eve, there’s just one more thing...”

“Yes?” she asked spinning to face him again as he was directly behind her.  Without a word he swept her into his arms sparing no efforts to keep this light as he pressed his mouth to hers in a demanding kiss.  Eve found herself responding despite her promises not to let him get her this worked up, but feeling him cajole her into this kiss, into this moment, she was caught, completely enraptured by him as she felt his curious hands leisurely traveled down her spine before closing around her full rounded bottom.  She let out a soft moan against his lips as he squeezed her to him before coaxing her into his arms.  Claiming his mouth again with hers in a sensual exploration, Eve curved her arms around him as he carried her over to the kitchen table.

With a sly smile on his face, Chris swept the table off with one hand while he holding Eve in the other arm.  Hearing the sounds of plates crashing on the floor, Eve jumped a bit as she felt him moving in over her covering her body with his.

"Eve, tell me what‘s really bothering you," Chris declared boldly as his lips traveled to her ear pressing a soft kiss beneath the lobe.

"I already told you Chris,” she blurted out again feeling her pulse quicken as his lips ignited a reaction in her she wasn‘t planning on.

"Eve, I know that we promised that we wouldn‘t cross this line," he began whispering warmly in her ear, "but can you continue to deny this?  Admit it you can’t wait any longer."

"Chris," she began to protest as his kisses slowly trail down along her neckline.

"Yes Eve?” he insists tugging on her robe.

"Make love to me Chris," Eve blurted out despite the thoughts raging in her mind as he pressed his body against hers.

"Are you sure about that Eve?" He questioned in a seductive tone as he continued to slowly devour her neck.

“Positive,” Eve replied reaching out to touch him attempting to claim his mouth in another kiss before their eyes connected again.

Chris watched her for a moment before slipping his hands down to the double knotted robe tie as he felt Eve take in a sharp breath.  He watched her reaction as he unknotted it and slowly pulled open the soft white fabric.

“Chris,” she breathed his name as he slipped his fingers over her skin and she reached out to him plucking open a few buttons on his shirt.  Unable to resist the fire overtaking her, Eve reached out quickly trying to remove the rest of the clothing barrier between them before Chris pressed her back into the table top with a searing kiss.

“Let me do this,” Chris urged freeing Eve of her nightshirt as he began to indulge in her newly exposed skin.  Moving over her onto the table top, he ran his hands alongside her shoulders slowly as he begins to move toward her stomach coming dangerously close to reaching his destination.

"Oh Chris.  How long I've waited for this," Eve confessed unable to believe that she was admitting this to him before running her nails down his back as he teased her with his hands.

"You have no idea how it makes me feel to hear you say that to me Eve,"  Chris confessed with a sigh as he looked her over in between placing soft kisses on her stomach.  "You're so beautiful."

"Chris, you‘re so amazing," Eve gasped taking in the sight of him as his kisses slowly reach her lower abdomen.

"Do you want me to stop?" Chris questioned on his knees looking up at her.

"No," Eve confessed closing her eyes as she felt herself heating up at his every
touch.

“No what Eve?” Chris asked pressing a kiss to her abdomen as she laid back on the table moaning slightly.

“Don’t stop what you’re doing Chris,” she reached out to him pulling him up for a kiss, “I want you.”

Chris returned her kiss for a moment before breaking away and pushing himself up off the table.  “I can’t Eve.”

“What?” she asked watching him take a step back towards the now burning bacon.

“I can’t do this,” Chris explained as he moved over to the sink dumping the pan into it.

Eve sat up on the table bringing her robe around her as she watched him with a frown, “what do you mean you can’t do this?”

“Eve,” Chris stepped forward reaching out to touch her cheek as he saw the confusion behind her eyes, “you know why we can’t do this.”

“Chris, I know that we’re friends but....” she started again.

“Eve,” he pressed his index finger over her lips, “I think we’re a bit more than friends and I can’t bring myself to do this with you like this at least not feeling the way I do about you.”

“The way you feel about me?” Eve blinked back as he twirled a lock of her hair with his index finger.

“Eve, I’m in love with you,” Chris blurted out as he met her eyes, “I have been for so very long and to just take you like this, to give in to what I’m feeling knowing that you don’t really feel the same about me, well Eve, I couldn’t live with myself.”

“You’re in love with me?” She asked surprised.

“More than you can imagine,” Chris nodded in response, “I am so desperately in love with you and have been for so long that I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t in love with you.  Eve, you are my moon and my stars and just the thought of being able to hold you in my arms, to make love to you,” he reached out to her drawing her close to him, “it burns me unlike anything I’ve ever known.”

“You can’t mean that,” Eve searched his eyes wondering if he was on the level with her.

“I do,” Chris breathed as he held her face in his hands, “I mean it more than anything I’ve ever meant in my life.  Eve, there’s not a day that goes by, a moment that passes when my thoughts aren’t with you.  You’re all I can think about, all I have ever wanted in my life and now being so close to having all of my dreams right here in my kitchen, well, it’s a bit overwhelming.”

“I had no idea,” Eve gasped as she watched his eyes, “why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because you didn’t want to hear it,” he shrugged, “you were always too wrapped up in everything else to notice.”

“I’m not wrapped up in anything right now,” she urged as he turned his eyes away.  She reached for his face, “Chris, I want to hear it now.”

“Maybe I don’t want to tell it,” he looked to her again.

“I’m listening though,” she paused.

“Not enough,” he answered as he leaned in to kiss her gently.

“Chris, if you can’t say it,” she breathed against his lips, “then show me.  Show me how you love me.”

“I can’t Eve,” He protested kissing her again.

“Yes, yes you can,” she urged holding him closer to her.

“I would,” he paused, “but I can’t.  I really can’t.”

“Yes, you really can.”

“No Eve,” he shook his head as she reached out to him again.

“Chris, I’m asking...no begging you to let me see the love you have for me,” Eve replied drawing him in for a kiss.

“Are you?” he questioned taking her lips again.

“Yes,” she breathed pulling him closer.

“You’re asking me to make love to you,” he questioned curiously.

“Yes, Chris I want you to make love to me,” she nodded in response as he moved in to kiss her again.

“Well, I would Eve,” Chris replied tasting the traces of her kiss on his lips before he pulled away wiping at his lips, “but well, I don’t really want to.”

“What?” she asked watching him straighten out his sleeves as he stepped towards the door again, “Chris?”

He turned around to face her with a twisted smirk as he waved his hand at her, “Eve, I was just kidding about all that loving you stuff.  I just wanted to see what your reaction would be and I was right in my suspicions that all it takes for you is a few well planned words,” he half laughed, “you know it’s sad how predictable you are.”

“You mean you’re not in love with me?” she asked moving to her feet again.

“Hardly,” he chuckled in amusement, “but you know if you really need someone to take to bed, I might be able to fit you in next week,” he laughed again before giving her one last look, “god Eve, you’re truly pathetic,” he threw a wave at her before letting out one last laugh, “Have a nice day”

“You,” she shoved the chair across the room kicking it before stomping off into her room silently cursing herself for letting Chris get the best of her.  That was it.  After he’d proved his point she realized that the last thing Eve Lambert was going to let any man believe was that she was pathetic.
